Ecommerce, Grocery & Supermarket
Grocery & Supermarket Ecommerce Development in Dubai & the UAE
Grocery is the most operationally demanding category in ecommerce. Baskets are large and low-margin, items are perishable, half the catalogue is sold by weight, and the customer expects a delivery slot they chose rather than whenever the courier arrives.
We built ChooseMyFresh from concept to execution, fresh grocery commerce with slot delivery, quality-checked produce and bilingual browsing, and MISO Groceries for ethnic grocery delivery with catering and ready meals alongside the store. Both run on the same principle: the picker experience matters as much as the storefront.
What makes grocery & supermarket different online
Every category has a small number of problems that decide whether the store works. Get these right and the rest is ordinary ecommerce. Get them wrong and no amount of design or advertising compensates.
- Weight-based items where the final price is only known after picking
- Substitutions when an item is out of stock mid-pick and the customer has already paid
- Delivery slots and capacity planning that must not be oversold
- Perishables, chilled and frozen items needing separate handling and routing
- Very large baskets where browsing 4,000 SKUs must still feel fast
- Repeat weekly shops that should take two minutes, not thirty
How we build it
We start from your catalogue and your operations rather than from a theme. The structure of the data decides what the store can do, so that is where the work begins.
What we deliver
Built for how grocery & supermarket is actually bought.
Catalogue and data
Weight-based and variable-price items with pre-authorisation and final settlement on actual weight
- Substitution rules with customer preferences captured at order time and approval by WhatsApp
- Delivery slot engine with capacity limits per slot, zone and vehicle type
Buying experience
Picker mobile app with aisle-ordered pick lists, barcode scan and substitution prompts
- Chilled, frozen and ambient handling with separate packing and routing rules
- Reorder from history and saved shopping lists for weekly repeat shops
Operations and growth
Dark-store and multi-node fulfilment routing by delivery zone
- Bilingual Arabic/English catalogue with category browsing built for depth
How it runs
From brief to trading.
The same sequence on every build, because the order is what keeps the cost down.
- Step 01
Diagnostic
We look at your catalogue, your margins, your fulfilment and your current store if you have one. The output is a scope with the commercial case stated, not a feature list.
- Step 02
Structure
Catalogue architecture, attributes and variant logic. In grocery & supermarket this is the decision that determines what the store can do for the next three years.
- Step 03
Build
Storefront, checkout, payment and courier integration, and the connections to your ERP or POS so stock and pricing stay true.
- Step 04
Launch and grow
We launch when it can trade, not when every feature is complete, then run merchandising, CRO and performance marketing against revenue.
Integrations
Connected to the stack you already run.

Growth model
We would rather be paid for the growth than the hours.
For ecommerce clients we can work on growth-share: an agreed baseline from your trailing performance, then a percentage of the incremental sales we create above it. No fixed retainer. If your revenue does not grow, we do not earn. It changes what we recommend, because we carry part of the risk of being wrong.
Questions
Questions about grocery & supermarket ecommerce.
How do you handle items sold by weight?
The customer is charged an estimate at checkout via pre-authorisation, the picker records actual weight, and the final settlement adjusts to the real amount with a clear breakdown sent to the customer.
What happens when an item is out of stock during picking?
Substitution preferences are captured at order time and the picker app suggests rule-based alternatives. For customers who chose to approve manually, we send a WhatsApp approval before substituting.
Do you build the picker and driver apps too?
Yes. Grocery only works when the storefront, picker app and delivery routing are designed as one system, so we build them together.

Other sectors we build for.
Retail Chains & Multi-Store
A retail chain going online does not have an ecommerce problem, it has an inventory truth problem. The website says in stock, the branch says sold out, and the customer finds out after they have paid. Everything else in omnichannel retail follows from fixing that.
Read onWatches
Watch buyers research obsessively. Movement type, case dimensions, water resistance, lug width, power reserve, these are not nice-to-have specifications, they are the entire basis of the purchase decision, and a store that treats them as description text loses to one that treats them as data.
Read onSports & Fitness
Sports retail spans two very different businesses in one catalogue: heavy equipment that needs freight, assembly and space planning, and consumables like supplements and apparel that sell on repeat. They need different merchandising, different logistics and different retention logic.
