SEO is oversold and consequently under-trusted. It works, but the honest version is slower and less certain than the version usually presented in a pitch.
What SEO can realistically do
It can win consistent, compounding traffic for queries where you genuinely deserve to rank, at a cost per acquisition that falls over time rather than rising. That is a substantial commercial advantage, and it is durable in a way that paid traffic is not.
What it cannot do
It cannot deliver competitive Dubai commercial keywords in thirty days, rank a page that is worse than what currently ranks, or overcome an absent local presence for searches with local intent. Anyone promising otherwise is describing a sales pitch rather than a plan.
Realistic timelines
Technical fixes can show within weeks. Content that targets less contested queries can move within two to three months. Competitive commercial terms in Dubai realistically take four to six months to move meaningfully and nine to twelve to hold.
How to judge progress early
Before rankings move, watch impressions in Search Console, the number of queries you appear for at all, average position trends rather than absolute positions, and indexation coverage. These shift well before positions do, and they tell you whether the work is landing.
